The Department of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant at MMHRC deals with complicated ailments related to the blood, bone marrow and lymph nodes. The diseases could be of a malignant or benign nature. They include cancers like leukemia (blood cancer), lymphoma and myeloma. Non-cancerous diseases of the blood include bone marrow failure (aplastic anaemia), anaemia due to inherited disorders like thalassaemia, sickle cell anaemia and bleeding disorders like hemophilia and immune thrombocytopenic purpura.
