Complex Coronary Angioplasty by Retrograde Techniques performed at MMHRC

A 55-year old male patient, who suffered chest pain, had successfully undergone a four-hour 'retrograde angioplasty', which is widely followed in Japan. The patient's angiogram had earlier shown chronic total occulusions of the RT coronary artery. Conventionally, if an artery is occluded, it is usually opened from the front and a stent will be placed. However, in the Japanese method, the artery was opened from behind through a feeder vessel and the procedure was performed.
