66 Year Old Teacher (retd) Undergoes Rare Surgery for a New Lease of Life PDF Print E-mail

Mr. Palanivel, a 66 year old retired teacher from a village near Thirupathur underwent an extremely complicated and rare surgery as treatment for MG Muscular Weakness, a rare condition that necessitates the removal of a tumour in the Thymus, an organ located very close to the heart.

Dr. Ramesh Ardhanari, Medical Director, MMHRC, who performed the sugery said that this surgery was performed through thoracoscopic procedure instead of using a procedure similar to an open heart surgery.

Palanivel, who had four surgeries earlier for the treatment of cancer is grateful for his new lease of life.
